Windows ME memory

I have a 800 mhz P3,I have 256 ram,these are in two slots each 128 each.The bios states I have 512 ram,and 256 availible for windows.I only have two 128 ram chips installed.How can I set the bios to read the correct amount of ram.I do not want to try anything crazy, but I would like it to be correct.
