Windows ME SysTray

by philip.ramirez . Updated 25 years ago

My 800Mhz PIII with 384Meg RAM boots really slow and runs really slow also. I here that items on the system tray can do that to a PC. I looked in programs\startup and found nothing. I discovered msconfig and under tools is an option called configuration which lists some items with checkmarks next to them. I unchecked some of them and now they don’t show up on my systray anymore, but now my PC thinks that I am troubleshooting it. Is there a way to make these programs get out of my startup without uninstalling them? How did they get there and is there a better way to manage these types of programs? Is there some software that can take care of adding and removing items from the systray and give me the most use of my memory? My resources show 65% when I boot up and goes down from there. Is this bad? How can I maximize resources?
