Windows Media Player Series 9

OS: Windows XP

I had to reload my OS a few weeks ago and when grabbing all of the Windows Updates, I got Windows Media Player Series 9 in the mix. Now when I try to play and AVI or WMV file, the video looks like I have a modem connection instead of DSL. It works very well with MPEG files. I have searched Microsoft’s web site for any information about this problem and have found nothing. Any one having this same type of problem?
