Windows NT stops responding after logon

I have NT4 server with service pack 4. It accepts the user name and password but after waiting for hrs there is no desktop it stops on the green screen. I can access the server from network but cannot run any application on the server like my DominoMail server as NT doesn’t go till desktop.

Can somebody help me out
