Windows Terminal Server, SQL-7, ODBC Err

by ladbyrnes . Updated 25 years, 3 months ago

I’ve installed MS-WTS 4.0 on a Dell 6450. The install was done from CD and encountered no errors. Immediatly after the install I attemped to install MS-SQL version 7. I get the message, “ODBC components on your system need to be updated but one or more files are in use or are marked read-only. Please close all applications and press retry. Note, that a reboot may be required to free the files.”

There is nothing running. It’s a brand new install. I’ve tried this with MS-WTS service packs 3,4,5 & 6. I’ve reinstalled this system over 25 times. FDISK was used to clear the old system off the drives every time.

I’ve even tried stopping every service that I dare, but no joy.

I have the exact same configuration running on a Dell 4300 with no problems.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Larry…
