Recently I tried to upgrade my desktop OS (windows 2000 prof w/sp1) using “windows update?. I neglected sp3 and ie6 updates and loaded rest. I got following security updates:

That asked to restart my machine and …
when I restarted I didnt get internet connection!!
(Info : I have privateIP address,use a gateway DNS server -supplied by private internet service provider-having private IP address which further gets connected to registered server.)
Now I installed sp3…and I started getting internet access!!
Now,I want to know where did I compromised on security front?can you help me please?
