Windows user profile on a USB drive?

Is there a way for a user who is remote to plug into a machine in the field and have the PC load the users profile from a USB key similar to a mobile profile? We have users in the field that share a few pc’s loading their profile from the network takes a long time and also anytime they login to a machine for the first time they need to be configured by a tech remotely.
