I don’t see many Acer Aspire desktops in my workshop but today I got one. T810 model (P4). I removed a bunch of spyware and a few viruses only to discover a browser hijack which prevents tools intended to remove it from running. I got rid of most of them but now need to reload the OS on top of itself. Acer provide 3 CDs marked restore Windows XP but all the files ob CD 1 are in a .IMG file and not accessable to me. I ran a new OEM copy of XP home (SP1a) install and did a repair on the system only to discover the Acer product key was not accepted by the new XP. This is the first time I have come across a XP home repair which rejected an earlier key. Can anyone shed some light on accessing the Acer XP files so I can do anothere install/repair job?
