My question is that I have a friend who has a very nice computer, and he was wanting to setup a LAN just like the one I have, so we got a Router and NIC Card.
Now the card is a linksys100TX EtherFast 10/100 LAN card, and it is printed on the box that it is XP Compatable (Actually it says “Designed for Windows XP), Now when the PC loads, it just says “Driver Invalid”. We downloaded and installed the driver from the CD, and still the same thing. We installed the driver in the device manager and still it don’t work, so I got one off the internet and guess what, It still don’t work (I really don’t like XP now). Anyways I have several ones that I know work with XP, so I pulled 4 Diffeent ones out and we get the same thing, It says its Invalid Driver or Driver error with every NIC we try to install.
This PC has Never been on the internet, and I am trying to set it up where it can access the router and get on the net.
Notes include:
*PCI and its installed correctly
*When the PC Boots, the lighs on the NIC don’t light up (I am running 2K Pro on mine and everytime I turn on my PC they come on)
*His PC is a AMD 1.7 GHZ, 528 MB RAM
What could be causing this?
