Windows XP Setup

I have a computer that was supposed to be XP ready. It even came with a rebate for xp so I only had to pay shipping. I ran the compatability checker and wham! Modem and 3D card drivers will not work with XP. I checked the modem manufacturer (PC-Tel) and the driver will not be available until late 2001 (which I thouht it was!!) and the 3d card is intel but I can’t find the model on their site. Tech support said “Oh just try installing XP everything should be fine.” Is this good advise? IfI install it and my modem doesn’t work I can’t activate it online or download the drivers for it afterwards! My question is should I cross my fingers and try or wait months until all the drivers are ready?
