Windows XP SP2 installation problem

Help! I attempted to install SP2 to the Windows Xp Home Edition that I am running. The installation failed, for reasons I don’t understand, and now I cannot reboot my computer in normal mode. When I try, I get the blue screen error message. I have rebooted in safe mode and attempted to uninstall SP2 (not sure if I was successful). Any guidance on how to get my computer back to “normal” would be greatly appreciated.
