I’ll try to keep this short.
Basically I’m developing on a PC system Running XP.
The system has no keyboard so that users can’t start playing around.
Problem is, i have a Magnetic Card Reader (MCR) which plugs into the PS/2 Keyboard port (No Drivers Needed).
Because there is no keyboard present on boot up, only the MCR present, XP refuses to load the Keyboard driver rendering the MCR useless.
Go into DEVICE MANAGER with no keyboard attached to see a demo….
The MCR sends its signals as keystrokes through the PS/2 port. As theres no Keyboard to emulate, the strokes go nowhere.
Kind of useless.
All i need is to tell XP that there’s a keyboard present when there isn’t one plugged in.
Even Microsoft are having troublesolving this one.
Kind of throwing it out as a challenge or incase anyone has had similar problems.
All works fine on Win98 platform. (Because there’s a keyboard in DEVICE MANAGER).
Really need this on an XP install though, so Catch 22….
ps
I am serious about the points on this one…
