I have a user running windows2000 professional with office 2000. We have customised word so that any documents that are created are saved to a share on a unix openserver system running a product called visionfs( bit like SAMBA), which is an SMB program.
This works fine for any document that is created, printed, saved, reopended and printed at a later time.
My problem is with the inbuilt fax service.
If the user creates a document and faxes it before saving everything works fine.
However, if he saves it, retrives it at a later date, the fax wizard does not start and the fax service hangs and has to removed and reinstalled. If he retrives it,saves it to a local directory, closed it, reopens it and faxes it then it works fine. If the share is to another windows pc it again works okay.
If I load office 2000 onto a pc running Windows98 it again works fine when saving and retriving from the the unix system. However, I cannot suggest this as an option to the user.
I’ve come down to the conclusion that its windows2000
Anybody got any idea? as I’m lost!
