Windows2000 workstation and Novell 4.0

There seems to be a problem or at least a flaw when a windows 2000 workstation attempts to access a Novell 4.0 server for file and print services. Most of the time the Windows 2000 workstation appears to be scanning to find the server and does not necessarily cache it when it finds it for future access. These delays mount up over a day since all of our file and print are handled by Novell. Has anyone found a solution to this?
