Windows98 8mb hard disk limit

how can i get my 20gb western digital drive to not cause windows98 to boot in MS-DOS compatibility mode? Microsoft are working on an update for esdi_506.pdr, but i need this fix NOW ! The problem is that win98 can’t handle a secondary hard drive >8gb – (!!!)
