winkde.exe CPU hog

I rebuilt my computer with windows2k, and now there is a process running that is hogging the CPU named “winkde.exe”. I have surfed the internet and microsoft, and cannot find any information on this program. Can I kill the process, or does windowsneed it?

Any and all information about this process would be great.
