First I want to say… I really dislike ME, but I have to support it…
CLIENT SETTINGS: MS Client for MS Networks is set to log into an NT Domain, MS Family Logon is uninstalled. Primary Windows login is set to utilize the Client for MS Networks.
PROBLEM BEHAIVOR: Windows starts and automatically logs the last user directly into Windows with no Domain login/ or authentication. To log in to the domain, we have to click START Logoff and up pops the MS Client login dialog box, which should be popping up on startup.
Now I know that it’s probably best to restore this particular computer back to factory settings with the restore disk (it’s a compaq)…but I am really ticked at the Win9.x prepondancy to get the network components insuch a state that a complete new install is needed. I’ve tried running a setup over the installation (hoping to selvage the installed programs) but it certainly didn’t fix anything, in fact this is when the behaivor started.
I originally re-ranthe ME setup program over this installation, because the Zip drive installation (newest ME drivers), is causing the harddrives to be listed as IOMEGA drives.. and Norton Anti virus won’t work on the system because… it doesn’t work from zip drives.
This OS’es biggest problem is that it does not have a system file checker utility. Because as I understand MS deemed this OS capable of monitoring itself and keeping itself in good working order…and we all know MS doesn’t prepare for contingencies of a component such as that.. failing to do it’s job.
Anyway does anyone have suggestion for restoring the Domain logon??? I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the client… I just dont believe that whatever bad registry settings existed.. are being corrected when I do so.
