WinNT/2K Hardware Profile Identification

I have a need to determine which hardware profile was chosen by the user of a Windows 2000/NT workstation after the GUI comes up.

I have checked the registry and could not find anything. I need to set an environment variable (e.g. SysType=) based on the hardware profile chosen.
