Winsock Error

My problem is this. I am trying to view the WINIPCFG on a networked Windows 98 PC. I cannot view the IP configuration because the following error message appears:

‘FAILED TO INITIALIZE WINSOCK’

This is also preventing me from ‘pinging’ other PCs on the network.

Can somebody please help?
