WinXP and reading some CD’s,CdR’s

I am running winXP pro on my desktop and XP home on my laptop. On my desktop, when I insert some cds the computer wont read them. I go to my computer and double click on the cdrom drive and i get a message saying to insert a disk. I take the same disk and put it in my laptop and it works fine. This happends to all the disks. I have two cdroms, one regular and one burner. I can burn cds fine, but i cant go back and see what i copied. When I take the files into my laptop it all works. Also when iright click any cdrom drive and go to properties and then volume, I see the name of the disk, the size and everything. Please help. Thanks in advance.
