WinXP, bridged NIC’s, a LAN & DSL modem

by funky_monk . Updated 23 years, 11 months ago

IM trying to setup a ADSL connection on an XP machine that has two bridged NICs. The DSL modem is conected to one NIC and the other is used to connect to our HUB.
I can browse the network just fine before trying to setup the DSL modem (but its attached) but in order to connect to my ISP i need to let it obtain one automaticly.
The problem here is that I need my IP static so i can ping and browse the network and since the two cards are brindged they share the IP.
When i setup a internet connection and leave the IP in that as obtain automaticly it gets stuck trying to open the WAN port.
If I break the bridge and configure the NIC the modem is connected to they way im supposed to I can get on the net fine but Can’t access the LAN.
For some reason i can’t break the bridge and get the LAN working and Internet connection going independent of each other.

So I need help. Whether its giving me a whole new setup stratedgy or a few tweaks. I don’t have much XP expirience but i do spend alot of time on 2K machines.
I’ve tried removing the two connection and starting from scratch but that’s even worse.
