WinXP Home: Boots then freezes.

This is actually for my girlfriend. I’m really stressed out about this. Her laptop (Sony Vaio) is screwed up now that I’ve fixed a problem she had. Whenever she would visit Google.com, she would be redirected to a CPanel website. I went to Cpanel.net and found their FAQ, which led me here:
http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=TROJ_QHOSTS.A
(Remove extra spaces,of course.)
Foolishly, I *loosely* followed the steps to manually remove the qhosts virus. (I think now that I could have just altered the HOSTS file in c:/windows and none of this would have happened. Anyway, instead of erasing the value of the registry entries, I just completely deleted the registry entries that it referred to. Some of them were not altered, now that I think about it. I tested the steps to fix it, by visiting Google.com, and it worked! I was elated. Then, I restarted her computer to make sure any changes were final. I figuered, hey, it’s fine now…
Now it freezes whenever I try to boot her laptop up. A) At the Welcome screen when she types in her password, or B) shortly thereafter while Windows is loading the startup programs. I initially thought that it was just an overload of startup programs, so one time that it booted semi-halfway, I quickly ran msconfig and disabled aim.exe, ypager, and other various useless programs. But it still won’t boot up into normal mode! I can boot into Safe Mode just fine, so, if someone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. I know this is probably a tedious easy question to most, but I’m putting almost all of my TechPoints into this. I need to fix this badly.

Thank you in advance,
Ryan
