winxp pro installation problem

I did a clean install of winxp pro from the cd. but, after it goes thru the setup and does a reboot the installation stops with the following message
“boot from atapi cd-rom 1. No emulation system type-(00)”
Then goes back to starting setup all over again,checking hardware,installing files,formatting hd and so forth. The computer is as follows
Asus p2b m/b with latest bios upgrade 1012,320mb pc-100 sdram,wd 13.5gig hd,maxtor 4.3hd,viper pro v770 video card, sb sound card. Would like some help on this one
