I have a copy of Windows XP Professional at home. I also have a copy of Norton Anti-virus 2002 running on it. When I share out folders on my D drive, shortly after, Norton finds a virus on my computer W32.Nimda.enc It can’t be repaired so it quarentines it. Indeed there is a “harmless” virus. there are *.eml files that multiply rapidly throughout my drive, but ONLY in the folders (and the folders below them) that I’ve shared. If I disable “Auto Protect” and do a search on my D drive for *.eml. I can delete all the files, remove all shares, and the virus will not come up again. I’ve tried downloading extra utilities etc. specific to that virus, but when I do a scan, it doesn’t come up with anything. I’ve also tried reformatting my D drive, reformatting my C drive. Still the same thing occurs. I’m wondering if it’s a problem with Norton, or if it’s a bug with XP shares. I’m unable to find any related info in Norton’s or Microsoft’s sites. PLEASE HELP! as this is really annoying.
