Wireless Network no DHCP

by edlockett . Updated 21 years, 9 months ago

I have a Sony Vaio laptop running XP pro with SP2, and a US robotics wireless adapter. In the office a belkin wireless access point. Other wireless machines can connect to network fine.
Now windows XP detects the wireless network fOK, shows signal strength as excellent, and shows a status of ‘connected’. However a DHCP lease is not obtained. Trying to renew the lease results in the error ‘dhcp server could not be contacted…’. Have tried assigning a static IP, but cannot ping the access point.
Have also tried ‘repair’ of connection, deleting and re-creating the connection, uninstalling and reinstalling the wireless adapter drivers. All to no avail.
Everything is hunky dory when the machine is connected to the wired network.

Any advice on this would be most appreciated.
