My client is using a US Robotics MAXg wireless router, USR5461, to access the Internet from three laptops, all running Windows XP. Router is connected to a DSL modem and works fine in this mode. This seems to be a solid piece of gear.
The router has a USB port which allows it to act as a print server. The printer is an HP LaserJet 1020, which works fine as a local printer on all three laptops, but will not print when connected to the router. Have followed US Robotics’ print server instructions and have tried every Windows printer setting combo there is with no luck. The
router states that the printer is connected and ready, so it appears that this is a Windows XP problem. Wireless signal strenth is “excellent.”
On installation of the HP 1020, I noticed that the drivers were not “signed” by Microsoft. Is this the source of the problem? Could updated drivers from HP solve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
