hi- this is my problem- i have the office 2007 installed on my xp system,and the ‘open office’ as well..never any issues, and whenever i open a word file, it always opens in microsoft word, not the office open- which is fine. but– i have had a long running word document (a personal journal) that i use every day- never any problems, and it is set to ‘autosave’ – well the other day we had a power outage while i was in it, (and i was also on the internet looking at stocks)- after powering the system back up, i tried to open my journal(word doccument) and i had a error message saying that the office open xml file is corrupt and cant be opened. hmmmm.*(i also ran virus scans on the doccument-no viruses were detected), and reading some other posts lead me to try to open it with wordpad or note pad, and or renaming the file to rtf or text file, ect, and yeah it opened , but just in garbage of symbols and letters.. so i tried opening it with office open, and it did open the first part of it- and what has happened is when that power outtage happened, the web page i was viewing in another window is now at the begining of my word file !! -here is the first small section i see when opening it in office open..

so -somehow, that internet page has got on my word document and trashed it ??- and i need (want) to be able to get it back…i have tried everything i can think of,including the recovering file from any text option in word.. nothing has let me see my text from my original word file…but im pretty sure this all has happened because of that web page somehow getting attached on it..- and why is it that if opening this corrupted in note pad or office open, that i can read the web page info that was attached to it- but my journal is just symbols and garbage??
im stumped..
any ideas would be greatly appreciated !!!!
