Word wont open under NT 4 Workstation

I have an NT 4.0 Workstation running SP6 and Office 97 with the 2 service packs applied. After a few days Word will not open. It appears in the taskbar but will not display as a window. The only way to fix it is to delete the user profile and rebootit then works for a few days and does the same. Anyone know of a permanent fix, tried MS KB and technet..
