Word97 is so slow on the network

We had a server that was used as our DCHP and WINS server.
The server Crashed a few weeks ago and is beyond repair.
We setup DHCP and WINS on a new Server and all seems well execpt WORD97 which is very very slow opening Docs from another the server. Its also slow when you try opening a word attachment from your e-mail (We are using Outlook ).
Can anyone give me a few clues as to what is going on .
