Work Offline?

I have a Windows 98 PC dedicated mostly to my children’s games. It connects to teh internet via AOL ofver a dialup line.

Recently I have been getting an error message window poping up when I am working offline. The message says that it cannot find the connection to the internet. Do I want to try again or work offline?

I’ve cheched the control panel and all of the processes look normal. ADware and Trend-Micro Antivirus scans show nothing.

Something has been enabled that trys to check back with an on-line database. Any suggestions on how to track this down?
