xp and diamond viper 770 conflicts

There seemd to be a conflict with my diamond viper 770 and the recently upgraded xp (from 98). I’ve tried installing nvidia detonater xp 28.32 but my system still locks up on certain things (video). Other display items appear normal. I’ve also uninstalled xp, formated hard drive, reinstalled 98 then xp and still have the same problem.
