XP and Office 97

I had an evaluation copy of XPpro running w/ Office 97, everything working fine. When the eval. period was close to expiring I purchased an upgrade edition of XPpro and installed it. Everything went pretty well except Office apps are locking up. Tried uninstalling Office and reinstalling, still having problems. Any suggestions?
