xp home networking

Hello as most of you know xp home does not allow you to log into domains, so how do you print to a networked printer on a domain, it used to be done through a vpn connection but we had to rebuild the laptop so it got lost but now when creating a vpn connection to the external ip address of the server via the outer it is not working as server realises that you are trying to connect via a local ip address.

so any ideas??? of how to print.
