XP Network – files have NO attributes set- save results in read only

Two XP/SP2 computers. My data Files and Folders on system A have NO attributes set (I check with attrib in the DOS window) and the folders are set for “Share this folder on the network” and “Allow network users to change my files”

Any attempt to save a new file from System B to System A results in the folder is “read only” or to save a file that was read from System A results in “file is read only”

From System A I can save to any folder or any file on any drive on System B

I have tried every trick I know and have read about to be able to read files from system A to system
B – modify them and save them – nothing works – WHAT TO DO
