I have a machine running Windows XP, for some reason, the page file is not being created.
I have scanned w/updated Norton, no viruses.
1.) When first starting XP, I type in my password, but the machine won’t do anything (no HDD activity) unless I hit control alt delete once. Very wierd.
Once in, I tried all settings from windows XP managed to custom sizes of the page file. (there is only one large 50GB Drive) After rebooting, each time. I get the following message when trying to enter Advanced Setting in the performance menue.
” WIndows created a temporary paging file on your computer because of an error that occured with your paging file configuration when you started your computer. The total paging file size for all disk drives maybe larger than the size you specified. ”
Once I get a couple applications runnings, I got out of memory errors, and every time I go back to the performance settings, it shows my previous settings (if manually set) but the current size ofthe paging file is always 0.
Whats up with this??
