XP Pro nightmare

First of hi, this is my first question. I am completely new to XP, but very familiar with all previous OS’s. I recently wiped and upgraded a 3 year old Gateway (AMD Anthlon 800) to XP Pro. Installation went fine….but i am constantly getting error messages caused by my USB ports…i don’t know why, and its quite aggrevating. Any help would be wonderful…thank you in advance
