XP Repair

I am trying to use the boot from CD win XP Home repair option.
This runs through ok upto where I am ask to input the Administrator password I have tried the passwords I have which have admin rights they are not accepted error incorrect

I try to log on to XP normally with the administrator ID and not put a password in and press return I get a message saying that am unable to log on to this profile

Iam unable to see the admin account to amend password

Am I aproaching this the wrong wayany one have any ideas?
