I just upgraded system mainboard, processor to: Biostar NF4 4X-A7 with AMD 64 3200+ processor and an EVGA PCI Express 256 graphics card, DDR 400-1gb memory. Formatted HD, reloaded XP Home Ed., installed all driver, installed antivirus, spyware, adware protections, and even downloaded all win updates flawlessly until I attempted to download service pack 2. 90% through installation, received an error message: ” Component mismatch, component validation… service pack will roll back to previous settings . XP may not operate properly.” System reboots itself, and never gets past the XP Home screen, quick blue screen flashes and keeps rebooting. I have reformatted 3x, and even tried service pack 2 from cd, with same result. What might be solution, hopefully without formatting and installing again? Do I really need SP2 anyway?
