XP workstations with Win2K Server

Has anyone experienced slow login as well as slow opening Office documents, spreadsheets in particular, running Windows XP Pro on the workstation and Windows 2000 Server. We have a couple of clients that are having this issue. May take a couple of minutes to open a spreadsheet, etc from Windows 2000 server. Thanks for the feedback.
