Yamaha OPL3Sax no sounds

I have a winbook xl laptop with an integrated Yamaha in it and I can’t get any sounds produced from my soundcard. I have deduced that it isn’t a problem with my speakers. I am using desktop speakers on the output plug. This wasn’t a problem before and then it just happened to be in permanence. I have checked the multimedia settings and reinstalled the drivers. What’s the deal? No sounds even play in the Sounds control panel?!
