I must say that the death of John Lennon was the first time in my short life (currently 54 years young) that I actually was brought to tears by the death of a famous person. It was on this very day December 8 1980, 27 years ago that the musician was assassinated by some damn fool with delusions of grandeur that terminated a truly influential and talented man. In the 27 years since I can only wonder just what music may have been had he not been snuffed out on that night?
Some might say that John was a fool and a commie and there is evidence that can indeed verify these statements, but love him or hate him he did indeed say what he believed and believed what he said. From the Wikipedia I take the following quote, unable to verify the actual time of death this will surly do:
?Lennon was pronounced D.O.A. in the Emergency Room at the Roosevelt Hospital at 11:15 p.m. by Dr. Stephen Lynn. The cause of death was reported as hypovolemic shock, after losing more than 80% of blood volume. Dr. Elliott M. Gross (the Chief Medical Examiner) said that no one could have lived more than a few minutes with such multiple bullet injuries.?

That said I direct you to John Lennon?s site which is apparently run by Yoko Ono.
If you go to the video section and select Imagine, your sound is fine; the beginning is silent as if in respect, a moment of silence before the song begins.
