yet another scanner

I have a win2000 pro box
&
a umax Astra 2000p

Can this scanner work w/ this OS?

what I did already:

I went to the umax.com site & they informed this scanner doesnt work with parallel

I went to drivers.com & downloaded some drivers but win2000 doesnt like to use them

any ideas?
