On a small network, Linksys 4 port switch/WAP connected to cable modem, 2 wired PCs, 3 wireless, one via a Linksys WAP wired to the first WAP. A user with a laptop runinng Windows XP Pro is in the same room as WAP #1. Two rooms away is a PC running Windows 98, with a wireless card and an attached, shared printer. All computers can access the Internet. All can see one another. The laptop, however, gets the message, “You do not have permissions to view this resource, see your poor, haggard systems admin”. Another PC (running Windows XP Home, and wired, not wireless)in the same room as this laptop also sees the PC and its printer and can print to it.
Both WAPs are configured with 128 bit encryption, all wireless machines can see the internetand one another. As far as I know there is no security on Windows 98 (tha machine with the shared printer). What am I not seeing?
