I have always been one to chose the matte finish myself,
but had to buy the glossy when buying my last iMac.

Perhaps it has to do with the materials and their recyclability? I know the old monitors and screens weren't
glass, as the new iMacs have... always a price to pay for
being "green".

Overall, though, absolutely beautiful. Will have to buy one
anyways... although I am not a graphic artist and it won't
impede my use like it will you.

There were criticisms on the fact that the touchpad had a single button. So, now, they have done away with buttons completely (see the MacBook and MacBook Pro).

I'm a graphic designer and mac enthusiast...BUT their decision to do away with the matte finish displays is absolutely crazy! Every digital artist I know will have nothing to do with those glossy screens. Apple is making a big mistake by alienating all the graphics people out there. Yeah the machines are beautiful, solid pieces of art but with one GLARING exception. I'm glad that I upgraded my notebook in July and hope that Apple will come it its senses in the next couple of years before I'm ready to upgrade again.
