Images: Eyephone explains where you are

  • You’re on vacation and see an interesting looking building and want to know more about it. With new technology, you can simply take a picture of it with your phone and the eyePhone program will recognize the location and give you details about it. EyePhone was a a regional winner in the European Satellite Navigation Competition, sponsored by the European Space Agency’s Technology Transfer Program.\r\n\r\n

    EyePhone was developed by Ernst Pechtl and Hans Geiger, co-owners of SuperWise Technologies AG. SuperWise developed the basic image-recognition system called Apollo that makes eyePhone work.

  • To use iPhone, you focus on an interesting location.

  • EyePhone will recognize objects in the photo such as the two towers.

  • Select the object with your cursor.

  • Again, it gives the tourist a quick explanation of what they’re taking a picture of.
