When Microsoft released Windows 3.1 in April of 1992, the new operating system sported many new features such as built-in support for multimedia and scalable TrueType fonts. In addition to these more mainstream features, the developer team embedded an Easter Egg into the operating system in order to display their names—very similar to the credits that you see at the end of a movie. However, instead of their actual names, they used their email address names.
In addition to their names, the developers created caricatures of key people at Microsoft and used these cartoons in the Easter Egg display.
