Gaining access to 12 volts

I've got the computer and tech gear. Got the perfect Silverware chest; Got clocks and watches; some dissected, others ready to be. Got brass ready for cutting. Now I need to design my own. No copying beyond a few hits and tips. I want My very own ORIGINAL functional piece of Steampunk Art half as good as Datamasters' would be enough for me..

Brass and iron, or at most, plain steel, are the primary building metals of the Steampunk genre. Aluminum, while it was discovered just prior to the beginning of the Victorian era, didn't become plentiful enough to use as an industrial material until the mid-1880s, less than 20 years before the end of the Victorian era. (Napoleon III had enough to use as dinner plates to impress the guests.)

Steampunk-style construction with aluminum would therefore be considered Steampunk Futuristic, a projection of a future imagined by Holmes or Van Helsing.

On the other hand, that system looks ruggedized enough that I could have used it during Desert Storm back in 1990/91. Nice effort (especially if it's your first.)

Almost anybody can IMPROVE somebody else's idea (better keyboards, polishing rough welds etc).
Anybody can CRITICIZE.
Only SOME - DO think and turn that into something physical, even useful.

That laptop - even in presented form - deserves RESPECT.

BTW I am sure that his girlfriend did not mind the noise and "cardboard prototype" in the kitchen. She knew exactly what he is doing and where he is...
