Photos: ScanSoft’s revamped PDF converter

    Nuance’s ScanSoft PDF Converter Professional 4 is set for release on Tuesday. The PDF software has been given a new interface and features. \r\n

    \r\nNew functions include: conversion of PDF text into WAV files; a PDF optimizer that allows compression of large files; PDF/A (the ISO standard) capability; tagged PDFs; and integration with document management programs like Hummingbird and Interwoven. \r\n\r\n

    The Converter Assistant software offers a simple drag-and-drop option for turning any PDF file into a Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word or Corel WordPerfect document, while maintaining columns, rows and tables.

  • PDF Create Assistant, which is also included in the PDF Converter Professional suite, enables people to merge multiple formats into one PDF file. \r\n

    Users can create WAV files from PDF documents using a new text-to-speech feature. \r\n\r\n

    As with the previous version, ScanSoft’s Form Typer feature will convert any static PDF form into an editable PDF form that users can fill in.
