Dell showed a PowerEdge 6850 using Intel’s upcoming “Tulsa” Xeon processor at the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo on Wednesday. The Tulsa chip, with 16MB of high-speed cache memory, is used in four-processor servers.
Intel tucked its “Tulsa” Xeon server away in a cabinet but demonstrated the machine running seven virtual machines using VMware software. Tulsa has 1.3 billion transistors, 16MB of cache memory, and runs at a top speed of 3.4GHz, Intel said.
