    By Ken Keesling

Shocking Fun’s Shocking Tanks are a great gift, with a “shocking” surprise, for the geek on your shopping list.

Read my Geek Gift review of this product.

  • Packaging back/top

The packaging was very flashy with bright colors and large lettering.

  • Warning 1

There are lots of warnings on the packaging.

  • Warning 2

One more, in case you missed the first.

  • Warning 3

A third warning for good measure.

  • Top w/cardboard off

For shipping, the antennae are taped to the top plastic.

  • Top plastic off

The packaging is actually quite clever. It displays its contents very well.

The big red button at the rear of the tanks is a reset button for the lights.

  • Shocking Tanks

If you want to fool your friends, make sure they don’t see this.

  • Three AA batteries required.

The tanks take three AA batteries. While the tanks are shipped with batteries, they recommend they be changed immediately. Personally, I didn’t have any problems with the included batteries. I did have extras on hand, just in case, though.

  • Three AAA batteries required.

The controllers require three AAA batteries. These are included, too, and come with the same recommendations as the tank’s batteries.

  • Controller from top

  • Controller front

  • Controller bottom low

  • Controller bottom high

Here you can see that a LED on the front of the controller comes on when you switch it to high.
